Offering of Letters 2019

H.Res.189 recognizes the progress made against malnutrition due to strong U.S. leadership, but that more needs to be done. This includes support for the U.S. global nutrition strategy and increased efforts to scale up maternal and child nutrition.

Reps. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL-7), William Lacy Clay (D-MO-1), Betty McCollum (D-MN-4), and Jesus G. “Chuy” Garcia (D-IL-4) have signed on as cosponsors, for a total of 16 cosponsors. Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Chris Coons (D-DE) have committed to introducing an identical version of H.Res.189 in the Senate soon.

Global Nutrition Funding

The House State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs FY20 spending bill was marked up in subcommittee. We saw an overall increase in many of the top line numbers that we work on in coalition and the general consensus in the community is that it was a mostly positive bill.

The bill still has to go to the full committee and later be conferenced with the Senate bill.
