Global Food Security Act

The House on Friday, Sept. 28 unanimously passed the Global Food Security Reauthorization Act, which reauthorizes the Global Food Security Act for five more years.

The legislation mandates the continuation of agriculture and nutrition programs that have proven their effectiveness in reducing hunger and malnutrition.

Farm Bill

House and Senate farm bill conference committee leadership continues to work on a compromise bill. A sticking point is SNAP work requirements. Republicans are pushing for the compromise bill to at least tighten the waivers available for states to get around current SNAP work requirements.
