The farm bill can help put the United States on track to ending food insecurity and hunger in our country and save millions of lives overseas. To do so, it must be designed with strong and resilient food systems and good nutrition as its top priorities.
In 2018, Congress is working to review and renew farm bill programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and international food aid programs. The Senate Farm Bill (S.3042) protects and strengthens domestic nutrition programs and fully funds and continues to improve our international food aid programs.
This week, the Senate will likely vote on its farm bill. This bipartisan legislation protects SNAP, increases access to nutritious food, while also providing funding for international food aid programs.
