The farm bill can help put the United States on track to ending food insecurity and hunger in our country and save millions of lives overseas. To do so, it must be designed with strong and resilient food systems and good nutrition as its top priorities.
In 2018, Congress is working to review and renew farm bill programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and international food aid programs. The House Farm Bill (H.R.2) would cut nutrition assistance and SNAP benefits. These changes would take 2 million people off the SNAP program and cause more than 200,000 children to lose access to free school meals.
The Senate Farm Bill (S.3042) is bipartisan and protects SNAP, while also providing funding for international food aid programs. Tell your members of Congress to reject the House Farm Bill (H.R.2), and instead, pass the Senate Farm Bill (S.3042). The bipartisan Senate Farm Bill protects and strengthens domestic nutrition programs and fully funds and continues to improve our international food aid programs.
