Oppose Ending Asylum Protections

After the failure of the House to bring bipartisan immigration bills to the floor, Speaker Paul Ryan announced he would bring for a vote two partisan immigration bills: the Securing America’s Future Act (H.R.4760) and the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act (H.R.6136). These bills do not provide a reasonable pathway to citizenship for most Dreamers and ends asylum protections for Central American migrants seeking refuge in the United States due to violence and food insecurity in their home countries.

Bread for the World believes immigration is a hunger issue. Any policy approach to immigration must address hunger issues on both sides of the border while protecting family unity and allowing Dreamers to have access to a reasonable pathway to citizenship.

Your advocacy is critical to helping ensure immigrants and asylum seekers receive the respect and dignity they deserve.
